A real mentor, a real car, and a team that includes Hunza
Taught by a certified STEM Racing mentor
The business side has its own mentor
They build it, and they bring it home
Built alongside students from the valley
From a blank CAD file to a car on the track in ten days
Each student designs a car in CAD, tests its aerodynamics in simulation, prints and assembles the parts, then races it. It is the same design, build and test process STEM Racing teams use in more than 60 countries.
STEM Racing is not just engineering. Every team also runs an Enterprise arm, where students design the team's brand, learn project management, and raise the sponsorships that fund the build. In Hunza, that half is taught by its own specialist mentor.
The mountains are what make the ten days memorable. The main reason to come is the build.
WHAT EVERY STUDENT BRINGS HOME
A physical race car they designed, printed, assembled and raced
The full CAD and simulation file set, theirs to keep and build on
An enterprise portfolio, defended in front of judges
An individual written assessment of how they worked and what they learned
Ten days, not just ten days at a workbench
Most days belong to the build. Two open out into the valley: a culture day with the forts, the bazaar and lunch with local families, and an exploration day out to Attabad Lake and the Passu Cones. Evenings are for the campfire, with games, ice-breakers and stories.
It is the same team that spends a morning debugging a CAD file that spends an evening trading stories at a campfire, which is exactly the point.
THE CORE BUILD
Design, simulate, print and race
CAD, aerodynamics, CFD, manufacture, testing and enterprise are the spine of the ten days, ending in a race day with qualifying, knockout finals and awards.
OFF THE WORKBENCH
Short treks into the Karakoram
Guided walks up into the foothills, with the valley, the river and the glaciers laid out below.
AROUND THE VALLEY
A full exploration day
Attabad Lake, the Hussaini suspension bridge, the Passu Cones and Gulmit, on a day set aside for the valley.
CULTURE EXPLORATION
A culture day in Karimabad
The Karimabad bazaar, lunch with local families, and the basics of Burushaski and Wakhi, the languages of the valley.
HISTORY TOURS
History tours through Baltit and Altit Forts
Guided walks through two of the oldest forts in the Karakoram, still standing above the valley they once ruled.
ICE-BREAKING & TEAM BUILDING
Campfire nights, and stories
Evenings around the fire with games and stories that turn a room of strangers into a team before the first CAD file is even open.
From Skardu airport to the finish line
Seven days in the lab, taking a car from a blank CAD file to race day, with a culture day and an exploration day in the valley along the way.
